Local Leadership
The organizing committee coordinated the planning and delivery of WEEF2014, held December 3-6, 2014 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The forum took place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
The committee worked alongside the professional conference organizer, Meeting Minds – Experts Professional Conference Organizers, based in Dubai Media City, to manage logistics, sessions, and delegate services across the four days of the event.
A Collaborative Effort
Local and International Coordination
Organizing WEEF2014 required close collaboration between the Dubai-based local committee and partners connected to the wider World Engineering Education Forum series, which previously convened in Singapore (2010) and Buenos Aires (2012). This continuity of planning helped shape the program, sessions, and participation at the Dubai forum.
Event Execution
The committee oversaw the day-to-day running of the forum, working with the technical committees on program content and with the professional conference organizer on venue and delegate logistics.
Appreciation
Following the forum, the local organizing committee thanked the speakers, delegates, students, sponsors, and exhibitors who contributed to its success.
The Organizing Committee of WEEF2014 brought together a diverse group of professionals from engineering education institutions across the globe. Members represented universities, accreditation bodies, and industry partners who shared a common vision of advancing engineering pedagogy and global collaboration. The committee's work began many months before the December forum, involving the review of technical papers, the coordination of speaker sessions, and the design of a program that would address contemporary challenges in engineering education. Their efforts ensured that delegates from participating organizations could engage meaningfully with topics ranging from curriculum innovation to the integration of technology in learning environments.
Local leadership played a crucial role in shaping the WEEF2014 experience, drawing on Dubai's unique position as a crossroads of international education and industry. Committee members worked closely with the host university and supporting sponsors to create an environment where distinguished delegates could exchange ideas and build lasting professional networks. The forum's success in Dubai followed the footsteps of previous editions in Singapore and Buenos Aires, bringing a rich array of activities that combined conferences, workshops, and cultural exchanges. This collaborative spirit among organizers helped establish WEEF2014 as a landmark event for the global engineering education community.
